Congratulations! You've done a lot already! Glad you're putting some COLOR on the walls - It's always awful when everything's white! And so uncharacteristic of the time these houses were built. We're not both faculty, but work at universities. Good to see other folks in Bangor as housebloggers!

I have to tell you, the book by Nash ("renovating old houses") is pretty much the most useful book we've used yet. It tells you how to deal with a lot of the classic old house problems. That's where we found this plaster tip. I usually start there and then if their 'how to' is way too involved, then I look somewhere else. Most of their tips & tricks are pretty reasonable, though. I think I got it on interlibrary loan through the BPL, then I bought a copy on Amazon cause we kept using it.
