I'm a domestic diva!

Yes, I have sewn again! I am very excited about these curtains for our bedroom. A bit more expensive and instead of one window in the kitchen there are four windows but I think they look nice and I'm very excited!

I can sew!

With Thom's help hanging the rod, we put up the kitchen curtains today! I am so excited! I actually went and bought material today to make curtains for the bedroom. It's so much cheaper than buying curtains- I can't believe it. Anyway, here's a picture of the curtains! Hooray!

Spring break is over!

I have just returned from a nice respite visiting friends and family in Washington. Sad to come back to cold and what looks to be more snow but excited to start on the house again. It actually felt a little weird coming home last night, like this wasn't my house or something. Odd.

I have my first foray into the sewing world. Now, I can't say I have never sewn - I was quite good at it in 8th grade during Home Ec - but yes, it's been a while. So, I decided to make curtains for the kitchen. I spent many weeks trying to find something I liked to buy and was just amazed at how expensive curtains are. I stumbled upon a good sale at Jo-Ann Fabrics today and got enough fabric to make the curtains for only $18! The big challenge tonight has been learning how to correctly thread the sewing machine my in-laws bought me for Christmas (thank you!). I got so frustrated that I had to leave it and only Thom was able to figure out how to do it correctly. No, this doesn't bode well, does it?

Housewarming party tomorrow night. We just went and spent ridiculous amounts of money on food and beverages. I hope people come - I don't care if we are getting snow, I'm not canceling again!

One more down...

I spent this past weekend and the first day of my spring break today removing wallpaper, priming, and painting (see before/after) what we have come to lovingly call "Mancha's room." It's the third smallest bedroom and is now housing Mancha's catbox, my desk, and a twin bed. I think we see this as a baby room when the day comes but for now will make a nice office and sewing type room for me. I've always wanted a yellow room that is not nausea-inducing yellow and I am happy with how it turned out. I think Mancha likes it too!
