Cat/kitchen mystery solved

I am taking a break from sanding the cabinet doors (my back is killing me) and decided to update all of you on a deeply pondered mystery here at the Bangor Foursquare: Why does the cat avoid the kitchen? I had wondered if it was because of the nasty vinyl flooring giving her vertigo or the fluorescent lights. She has been hanging out in the kitchen considerably more since we removed the fluorescent boxes a month ago and, as you can see, the floor remains. This case is closed.

On a related but altogether different note, we now have to figure out why she hates having her picture taken. She does everything she can to avoid looking at the camera, leaving us with hundreds of great pictures of her behind and her side but rarely of her face. Having her for 11 years now, that translates into a lot of butt shots of our cat.

She probably doesn't like the flash.

Gee, I was just going to post, nice period flooring :-)

My late cat avoided the kitchen in this house, but not in my previous house. Now I am wondering about the fluorescent light here, as the old kitchen had regular lights. I also wonder if CFLs bother them, I converted to those after my cat passed away. Any data on that, anyone?

Gene - That's what I thought it was too so I stopped using the flash a long time ago. She's just camera shy - or maybe she knows that I'll post her face on the Internet and she prefers anonymity...

Karen Anne - I know that they have done studies that people who are around fluorescent light a lot get headaches and sick more often - it does emit a high pitched buzzing noise and that could be it. I know the old CFLs did that too but I'm not sure about the newer ones; this is an interesting question to ponder.
